A sell-out in 2007 with over 44,000 spectators, this year’s 2008 bowl game between selected Mountain West Conference and Conference USA will be aired on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) on ESPN, live from the Amon G. Carter Stadium at the Texas Christian University campus in Ft. Worth.

General David H. Petraeus has been named the 2008 recipient of the Great American Patriot Award presented by Armed Forces Insurance.
“Since 1974, General Petraeus has dedicated his life to the United States Army, and he is currently serving our country by leading our forces in the War on Terror,” says Jim Breen, the chairman of the Military Affairs Committee of the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. “This award recognizes him for his leadership and over 34 years of service to our country.”

On September 12, the 5th annual Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl Golf Tournament was held to thank those that contributed to a successful 2007 bowl game.
Held at Bear Creek Golf Course, this event included over 200 players and volunteers, and more than 50 corporate partner companies. For the first time in the event’s history, all five branches of the military were represented.

For the second straight year, the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl will “usher” in the New Year as the postseason college football game will be played on New Year’s Eve at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
The Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television (ERT), will be televised live from Amon G. Carter Stadium on Wednesday, December 31, at 11 a.m. (CST) on ESPN. The sixth edition of the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl will feature schools from Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference.
