Back in Black to Perform at 2016 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl Postgame Concert
FORT WORTH, Texas — The DFW-based AC/DC tribute band, Back in Black, will be the featured postgame musical entertainment for the 2016 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.
The free concert, presented by Armed Forces Insurance and Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet, will begin immediately following the game on the American Airlines Stage, inside the Tailgate Outpost, which is located on the north side of TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium. This year’s Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl is set for Friday, Dec. 23 at 3:30 p.m. (CT) and will be aired on ESPN.
Formed in 2001, Back in Black remains one of the top-drawing and longest-enduring tribute acts in North America, having performed sold out shows in front of hundreds of thousands of fans in locales such as Honolulu, Hollywood, Puerto Rico and Canada.
“It is exciting to have a band with such strong ties to the local community perform after our game,” Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl Executive Director Brant Ringler said. “Back in Black is known for putting on high-energy shows everywhere they go, and they will provide a fabulous ending to our event.”
Back in Black members include Darren Caperna (lead vocals), Mike Mroz (lead guitar), Ken Schiumo (drums), Ramiro Noriega (rhythm guitar) and Chris O’Toole/Sheldon Conrad (bass).
The group was featured in a nationally-televised, one-hour live performance on AXS TV’s “The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands.” Back in Black has performed with many classic rock and roll icons including: Cheap Trick, Kansas, Warrant, Night Ranger, Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Bad Company, Quiet Riot, Loverboy and many more.
The concert is free to anyone who purchases a ticket to the game. Tickets are available on the bowl’s website, www.armedforcesbowl.com.
Tickets range from $30 for general admission seating to $75 for lower bowl reserved seats. A limited number of seats are also available in the exclusive Bud Light Platinum Club, located on the west side of Amon G. Carter Stadium. At $125, these tickets include premium seating, complimentary food and beverages, and access to the inside of the club level.
The annual game, played in honor of the United States armed forces, is the only collegiate football bowl game that has hosted all three U.S. Military Academy football teams – the U.S. Military Academy (2010), the U.S. Air Force Academy (2007-2009, 2012, 2015) and the U.S. Naval Academy (2013).
