Navy/MWC On the Road to the BHAFB

Rested and ready after a week in ‘dry dock’, the U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen football team enjoyed a bye week and now continues sailing towards December’s Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl with a journey to meet Western Kentucky on Saturday. Navy (2-0) won its home opener 51-7 on Sept. 14 over Delaware. The Mids are contracted to play in this year’s Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas, pending bowl eligibility by winning at least six games. Navy surged its way past Indiana 41-35 on September 7 in Bloomington, Ind. to open its season with a major road victory.

The Mids are now planning for their home opener Saturday against Delaware (2-0). Big Ten Announces New Partnership with Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl

The Big Ten Conference extends its relationship with the Heart of Dallas Bowl presented by PlainsCapital Bank and enters into an agreement with the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl to secure a commitment to have a conference school play in the postseason games, on a rotating basis, during a seven-year period following the 2013-2019 seasons.

10th Annual Golf Tournament Results

With an event-record 185 players competing, the 10th annual Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl Golf Tournament was held Friday, on Flag Day, at the Oak and Pecan courses of Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, Texas. The popular summertime event returned to Walnut Creek's two courses for the fourth-straight year. This year also marked the second straight year the event was held on Flag Day as the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl continues to salute, honor and celebrate the military branches of the United States.
